Yaz
This popular birth control pill also can treat acne and reduce water retention. However, the FDA ordered the pharmaceutical manufacturer Bayer in 2008 to correct their TV ad because of misleading information. The chemical compound in Yaz, drospirenone, has been linked to acid and potassium blood level changes. As a result, certain people have needed emergency gall bladder removal and suffered heart attacks. Yaz is known to cause severe gynecological problems, such as pain, nausea and bleeding. Women taking high dosages may suffer from hypertension, varicose veins and possibly stroke or myocardial infarctions.
Lyrica
This anti-epileptic drug works by slowing down the brain impulses that cause serious seizures. Lyrica, or pregabalin, is also used to treat fibromyalgia and diabetes with nerve damage. However, Lyrica typically causes nervous system problems, such as dizziness, and gastrointestinal problems. People who take Lyrica are more likely to develop infections, suffer from accidental injuries and headaches. Rare cases have involved paranoia, depression and schizophrenia.
Chantix
Chantix, or varenicline, is advertised as a miracle smoking cessation cure. However, Chantix causes very severe mood and behavior changes. Documented psychological side effects include anxiety, panic attacks, hallucinations, aggressiveness and suicide. In fact, a famous classical musician in Texas is believed to have died because of Chantix. The well-liked musician suffered from major depressive meltdowns and terrorizing nightmares after taking Chantix.
